    If you haven't tried it, try the Black Krim. I have had production similar to the Ananas Noire. Both of those produce well for me and will always be in my garden. A cherry that I truly enjoyed, both for taste and production, is the Principe Borghese (black prince)

      I've heard great things about Black Krim, so that's going on my list for next year. I tried Princepe Borghese last year and wasn't really a fan 🤷‍♀️ maybe i'll have to give it another shot

    I absolutely love your rating system!! It brought a smile to me every time you referred to it. And I like the graphic/visuals. Appreciated seeing growth habit and hearing about any issues you experienced. Most tomato tasting videos only show the ripened tomatoes cut up.

    Ananas Noir is one of my very favorite tomatoes, they are soooo delicious and very pretty as well. Last year the squirrels found out how good they were and kept going after them.. This year we built a giant cage to protect them. Mwahahaha squirrels! No tomato for you!

    I have a way we cook it: peel, get the seed out, grate them but a little bit chunky not finely grated. Then put some salt on it to extract the water, squeeze them to get out some of the moisture then mix with finely chopped onions, garlic, parsley, finely grated carrots, grated potatoes or whatever vegetables you like, ( you can also add ground meat if you want), season the mixture to your taste, add an raw egg to help keep everything together and if the mixture is still moist to you can add a little bit of flour or potatoes starch. Then form them into patties and fry them. Make a tzatziki sauce for dipping and they will be to die for

    The animals still have to be dispatched to use tallow. That does go against the values of being vegan, doesn’t it? It does make beautiful soap, however😊

    • @GroundedHavenHomestead
      @GroundedHavenHomestead 23 часа назад

      True, but animals aren't typically killed for the tallow and lower value cuts - they are a byproduct of the expensive cuts that animals are raised for. If that industry isn't going anywhere, the byproducts will always exist.

    To prevent blossom end rot - there needs to be enough calcium in the soil and also enough moisture for the plants to be able to uptake it. I’ve found paste tomatoes to be more susceptible as well. Your grapes look awesome I hope you get a great have this year!

  • @jenniferdavis8088
    @jenniferdavis8088 23 дня назад

    Your tomatoes need calcium that's why they have blossom end rot , you can crush up some tums and put around the roots in the soil

    Great tutorial!! I make lots of my own stuff from scratch but now I’m looking into making my own soaps. I want to keep the fat from our deer this fall and render it for tallow to use in soaps! Quick question(s). Instead of olive oil can you add any oil that has been infused? Like calendula infused with avocado oil? And after the soap is cured, what is the best way to store the unused bars and approximately how long will they store for? Thanks again for this video! It was a definite confidence boost that I can totally do this :)

    Wash some egg shells dehydrate and blitz them up to a powder add around the tomatoes may help with the rot, as they could need calcium. Nice harvests, soon going to be busy preserving.

    You have some nice harvests. Even your onions look like a nice size to me. I normally remove any BER tomatoes from the vines. They are taking away nutrients from good fruit that is forming. I also remove any double blossom flowers as they will produce cat-faced tomatoes, another waste of nutrients as the toms end up malformed and taking away energy from new forming fruit. The little goaties have grown so much!

    Garden looks great! I'm in NC, new zone 8a. We had a nice and damp spring, but this early summer's been stupid hot and dry, and finally two nights ago we got some rain, and it was a doozy. For paste tomatoes, I grow exclusively a determinate variety of San Marzano, and irrespective of rain amounts (I dry farm as much as possible), I've never had BER (I've had some on beefsteak varieties in the past). I get some sun scald on these blistering days, but the variety's been a super winner for me three years running, and I save seeds each year to make sure I can go the following year. Good luck for the season, and hopefully you get some rain soon!

    Thank you for the tour. I love how realistic you are. Beautiful harvest, even if the onions are smaller than you expected. You can get little net bags with pull strings to put over your grapes. They're fast to put on, and they're reusable.
